In the late 1800's brothers Louis & Otto Seelbach immigrated from Germany to the United States with a dream.
A dream to open their own business.
They started small, a cafe. A 30-room hotel was added. 25 years later, The Seelbach Hotel opened and has gone on to host eight sitting presidents, was mentioned in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby," and has Kentucky's only AAA Five-Diamond restaurant.
It is with that same spirit, determination and work ethic that inspired their descendant Chris Seelbach to run for Cincinnati City Council.

Raised in Louisville, Kentucky to middle class parents, Chris was taught early in life you only earn what you work hard to achieve. After graduating from St. Xavier high school, Chris moved to Cincinnati to attend Xavier University, where upon graduation he received the prestigious “Jesuit Ideals” and “14th Annual Cultural Diversity” awards.
Following graduation, Chris accepted a scholarship to attend the University of Dayton School of Law. While in law school Chris worked for a Cincinnati law firm specializing in employment discrimination and for a Federal, Republican-Appointed Magistrate Judge.
In 2004, Chris helped lead the successful effort to repeal Article XII, the anti-gay law that cost Cincinnati over $25,000,000 in lost business, according to the Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
Chris joined the national marketing consulting firm The Seidewitz Group in 2007 and currently holds the title CFO and VP.
Chris serves as a mentor with the Executive Mentorship program at Xavier University, is the former Vice President of cincYPac and political co-chair of The Human Rights Campaign Greater Cincinnati Steering Committee. Chris lives in Over the Rhine with his partner Craig and their four cats.
